Hi, I'm Killer Bud, owner of MarijuanaManifest.com
In 2000, I got busted for possession for quite a a bit of marijuana, and intent to distribute. The police offered me a plea deal to rat out my connection, and offered to drop the intent to distribute charges if I did. Well I refused, went to court. I was facing 6 years in prison max, but I ended up getting 2 years of drug offender probation. I had to go to a court mandated substance abuse class. A 12 week course that cost 130.00 every week, and if you missed one week, they made you start the whole program all over. It was a money grab. I had to piss in a cup once a month, and visit a probation officer, and around $2000.00 in court costs
I remember telling the police officer that arrested me, marijuana use shouldn't be a crime. His sarcastic response to me is still with me to this day. He said, "If you don't like like the law, then do something to change it."
11 years later in 2011, I ended up striking up a conversation on a flight when I was sitting next to Dr. Fred Whitehurst. He is an attorney now, but he used to be a forensic scientist that worked in the FBI crime labs.
I broached the topic of marijuana with him, and the next thing I knew, I ended up following a proverbial rabbit down the rabbit's hole.
Dr. Fred started explaining to me how people were getting convicted for marijuana should be contesting the charges.
The reason why is pretty simple, but not a lot of people at the time considered contesting the charges. You see, for years the police would pull you over, and if the found something that looked like a green leafy vegetable substance, they would pull out these field drug test kits, and they would put a sample in a bag, shake it around a little bit, and if it subjectively changed a bluish color, that was a "positive" test for marijuana. Come to find out, that whole field drug testing process is a Oscar winning dogshit performance made for the benefit of your impending arrest.
A few months after meeting Dr. Fred, I created Marijuana Manifest.com
Dr. Fred Whitehurst gave me lots of scientific, and legal resources, as well as providing expert witnesses to testify on behalf of marijuana defendants.
For years Marijuana Manifest brought this knowledge to the masses Ad Free, without making a single dime.
This website has been, and will always be as long as I own it, for marijuana culture. Also a cathartic remedy for me to stick it to the man, and do something to help change marijuana laws.
Marijuana Manifest was created in 2011. The original website is even saved on the Wayback Machine Internet Archives
Now that marijuana prohibition has started going in the right direction I am looking at this website with new eyes towards the future.
The hard part is almost over, we're winning, so I'm going to have a little fun with this site, maybe make a few bucks in ads finally, and enjoy the ride.
Honestly, I am winging it! I figure I will write some loose editorials, share some art, and music. If I get lucky maybe critique a few strains of bud, and get a few sponsors to keep the lights on.
